Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is the CFA® exam?
Extremely hard. The CFA® program requires an average of 1,000+ hours of study across all three levels. Historical pass rates are approximately 43% for Level I, 47% for Level II, and 52% for Level III.
Is a CFA® the same as a financial advisor?
Not necessarily. Many CFA® charterholders work in institutional investment management, equity research, or corporate finance. However, some CFA® charterholders do serve as personal financial advisors, particularly for high-net-worth clients.
How long does it take to get a CFA®?
A minimum of 2.5 years if passing each level on the first attempt (exams offered twice per year for Level I, annually for II and III). Most candidates take 4-5 years.
